Road Race Traditions

While I was at the race this year I noticed the number of people running together in group, many dressed up in costumes, but more so using the race a reason to celebrate family and friendship. I know I have seen many of them at prior years races and hope they continue their traditions in years to come.

This year was Jocelyn's third race with her good friend Kylie. When Jocelyn and I were walking back to the car after the race I talked with her about how she has established a Thanksgiving day tradition of her own. I do hope she figures out in time how lucky she is to started something like this and as I told her I hope she can keep this going through high school and after, because as you get older its is things like this that you appreciate the most.

As I said, Joc and Ky have done this for 3 years now and look forward to the race every year, they go out shopping before the race for their "costume" and talk all week about the details of where to meet, and who's picking up who.

Take a look at the number of people running, and imaging how many are doing it because of traditions established. I know John, Sara and Jake always ran, hopefully it will continue. My friend John and I half heartily said we will run it next year. I am going to try to push for it.

So who else out there has favorite traditions?

That is such a great tradition! I saw a bit of the televised live coverage on fox (HAHA) and they were talking to a team....called the turkey somethings i dont remember, but they had shirts made up and stuff. I thought that was pretty cool.

Did Ryan also participate in the race, or did he just create a "costume"? His hair looks a little redder than usual :-). Who is that with him?

T, that was last year, Ryan decided last minute he wanted to run the race. When we got to Carter Chevrolet he was ready to quit. Needless to say, no attempt was made this year!

We should definitely plan an "old fogeys" walk for next years' race! Karen, Me, John, and anyone else who wants to join in. We could even have our own t-shirts so let's think about a good saying to put on it.

I guess my favorite of favorites might be Christmas Eve lunch with the guys at Figaro's.
