Jocelyn's Birthday

We survived! Twelve 13 year old girls overnight! Boy are they loud. Was really scary to see them all attached to their cell phones all niht long. I don't think they can pee without them. Needless to say after finally quieting down at 3:30 I finally got some sleep. I hope we do not have to do this next year.

Now this is a test to see if I can get the slide show to appear.

Aunt Patty....

did you see the HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER last night? Minnesota and Canada...that captured me perfectly eh.

Uncle Dave....

Did you get the new heater? Where are you going to put it? Are you going to have room for it? What if there's no place to put it in the house? What will you do?

Traditions reprise

Glad to hear of your appreciation of traditions. And, I like the favorite ones so far. Yes, Sara, Jake and I have run many T-day races now. Sara told me this was her thirteenth! Jake has seven under his belt. Amazing. My favorite part of it (after seeing my kids run) is Kate Smith singing God Bless America! Yeah, strange for an atheist, but that's how it is. It may have been my last one: the knees are aching. I'm working on getting them back in shape. We'll see. I certainly want to participate for as long as possible. I'll walk if I have to, but I'd rather jog.

Sorry to say, we will be in Syracuse again this Christmas. It has been a year since we saw the Pergolizzis. We didn't make the usual summer trip. Kathy used her Red Lion Inn gift certificate on me instead f her sister. As usual, thanks to my family for being gracious and understanding about this holiday stuff. We WILL catch up at New Years.

Road Race Traditions

While I was at the race this year I noticed the number of people running together in group, many dressed up in costumes, but more so using the race a reason to celebrate family and friendship. I know I have seen many of them at prior years races and hope they continue their traditions in years to come.

This year was Jocelyn's third race with her good friend Kylie. When Jocelyn and I were walking back to the car after the race I talked with her about how she has established a Thanksgiving day tradition of her own. I do hope she figures out in time how lucky she is to started something like this and as I told her I hope she can keep this going through high school and after, because as you get older its is things like this that you appreciate the most.

As I said, Joc and Ky have done this for 3 years now and look forward to the race every year, they go out shopping before the race for their "costume" and talk all week about the details of where to meet, and who's picking up who.

Take a look at the number of people running, and imaging how many are doing it because of traditions established. I know John, Sara and Jake always ran, hopefully it will continue. My friend John and I half heartily said we will run it next year. I am going to try to push for it.

So who else out there has favorite traditions?

Old Western - Message?

I watched a 1952 movie called "The Bushwhackers", about a confederate vet who vows never to pick up a gun again, and moves west away from the turmoil and approaching Unionists. Of course he gets involved in a war between - the old/big landowner (grabber) who wants squatters (settlers) off the land so he can lease or sell to the railroads. Killing those who don't move on. Typical western plot. Of course the settlers (the good guys) have government deeds to there plot of land - reward for service, or just Manifest Destiny expanding westward. Okay, so who's side you on ... the murderous capitalist who claims first ownership (after the Natives, of course), or the farmer families with the socialistic handouts?

just found these photos

Hello!

1. Aunt Patty, if you remember and are done with it, could you bring Rosetta Stone for me. If you still need/want it, that's fine...I don't know how much time I would have for it anyway...

2. Aunt Annie, I got an easy solution...get a nice 20 lb. turkey for me and Patrick...

3. Uncle Dave, Can't wait for the 2008 Lynn Bowl...and of course the Lions first win of the season!

Hello!

Greetings from St. Cloud!

This is a good idea, well done!

I know that Karen, Patty and Rosey are planning to come. Annie? Mike? Or did I miss your email responses? Mike, if you'd like to bring Kathy, feel free.

Once Kathy knows you is coming, she'll suggest what to bring... and let you guys sort out who brings what.

OMG WTF! HS! LOL FOTFLOL

Cool beans Christopher. I understand that it is not magic, but it is a damn good idea! Kudos.

I'm on a blog and Facebook, I have my own web site, and can work in the Mac and PC worlds. Friggin' amazing for an old fart.

Of course, I still don't have a cell phone, CD player, PDA, or prescription medications.

From now on I'll put my rants here. Unless I forget.
